      <link>https://revues.mshparisnord.fr/ethnographie/index.php?id=1684</link>
This article seeks to rethink the problematic and ambivalent notion of ‘world cultures and scenes’ in order to understand how it is used today, the issues surrounding it, and its limitations. A nuanced, historical approach is necessary, given that the current political context is reshuffling the deck around an expression that one might have thought obsolete in the postcolonial, even decolonial context that characterises our contemporary era. Admittedly, the essentialising dimension of the concept and its tendency to replay the distinction between the West and the rest of the world are problematic. But, on the other hand, this concept is not just an abstract category: it is carried by individuals, groups and institutions that defend minority cultures whose existence and preservation are under threat today. </description>
