      <link>https://revues.mshparisnord.fr/ethnographie/index.php?id=1347</link>
This text aims to study the characteristics of the creation of a representative character for a city, in the form of a giant or other processional structures: the spectacular requirements, the technical forms (materials, carrying), the choice of figures that could become emblematic, and the questions their maintenance raises within the process of patrimonialization, between immaterial culture and materiality of the elements held in festivals. To do this, the study is based on European examples, in Belgium (Stavelot, La Louvière, Chapelle-lez-Herlaimont), Switzerland (Basel), and Catalonia (Manresa and Berga). </description>
