      <link>http://revues.mshparisnord.fr/chcp/index.php?id=1675</link>
This article offers an exploratory ethnography of anticipatory practices in the public interest – foresight, design fiction, speculative workshops – as they have developed in France since the Covid-19 period. Rather than offering a technical reading of these devices, it examines the extent to which they function as a lever for social creativity or, conversely, as a mechanism for reproducing existing order within the bureaucratic organisations that commission them. The fieldwork, conducted among an informal constellation of anticipation professionals – consultants, designers, and activist workshop facilitators – combines observation of collective projection events, in-depth interviews, and immersion in the training networks that structure this milieu. The article first maps the morphology of this professional world: its dynamics of methodological hybridisation, the circulation of its protocols, and the alternating consultation relationship – sometimes as consultant, sometimes as consulted – that constitutes its dominant relational mode. Drawing on several contrasting figures the article illuminates a constitutive tension within these practices. Building on David Graeber’s concept of social creativity and Castoriadis’s distinction between the instituting and the instituted imaginary, it argues that the capacity of projection devices to “change things” depends less on their technical sophistication than on the socio-political landscape in which they are embedded and the material power relations they can only temporarily suspend. The article concludes by reflecting on the role of political anthropology in this context: neither uncritical enthusiasm for the power of narratives, nor disenchantment in the face of their liberal recuperations, but an ethnographic attentiveness to the diverse ways in which ordinary people negotiate, within their lived temporalities, fragile spaces for imagining otherwise. </description>
